WEEKLY UPDATE ON WESTERN CAUCUS MEMBERS TAKING ACTION FOR RURAL AMERICA

FARM BILL HIGHLIGHTS FROM

WESTERN CAUCUS MEMBERS

Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed three items sponsored by Western Caucus Members:

Res. 987 sponsored by Western Caucus Chairman Rep. Dan Newhouse (WA-04). calls out the Biden Administration for their anti-American Energy policies.

H. Con. Res. 86, a resolution denounces a domestic carbon tax and was sponsored by Western Caucus Vice Chair Ryan Zinke (MT-01).

H.R. 7023, or the Creating Confidence in Clean Water Permitting Act, was sponsored by Rep. David Rouzer (NC-07) and encourages common-sense environmental policies.

OP-ED: CHAIRMAN NEWHOUSE ON ENERGY

Many members of both the House and Senate Western Caucus have spent the week in their districts honoring the sacrifices of American soldiers on Memorial Day and meeting with groups and individuals in their districts to learn how they can best-serve their constituents.

See how some of them honored our fallen troops on Memorial Day 2024.

EPA: “NO GAS CAR FOR YOU!”

The Biden administration wants to meet new carbon emission standards for cars and trucks, furthering the President’s forced-EV agenda and increasing our reliance on Chinese manufacturing and taking away consumer choice.

Congressional Western Caucus writes, “…the final rule mandates U.S. vehicle fleets to meet an average tailpipe emissions target of 82 grams of CO2/mile, a number that no current gas, diesel or traditional hybrid vehicle can currently meet. Meanwhile, the rule clearly favors EVs as it ignores emissions caused through the EV supply chain and battery lifecycle.”

National Agriculture Day was recognized on March 22. America’s food producers, farmers, and ranchers were celebrated for their dedication to keeping food on the table.

Farmers make up about 3% of country’s population. The Western Caucus Foundation thanks all ag workers for their commitment to the other 97% of Americans, and frankly, a good part of the world as well.

WESTERN CAUCUS UPDATES

Western Caucus Alaska members U.S. Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan, and Rep. Mary Peltola thanks Alaska’s legisture for holding the federal government accountable and passing a bipartisan resolution urging the Biden administration to withdraw a proposed Bureau of Land Management rule.

The resolution argues that the rule violates federal law mandating oil and gas production in the NPRA and criticizes the lack of consultation with impacted Alaskans, especially those in the North Slope region.

Senate Western Caucus Chair Sen. Cynthia Lummis (WY) and Congressional Western Caucus Chair Rep. Dan Newhouse (WA-04) sent a joint letter to the Bureau of Land Management seeking a comment period extension for a new Sage Grouse rule that would impact tens of millions of acres of land.

If enacted, this rule would have major negative impacts on farmers, ranchers, land owners, and necessary industries in the western United States.
