As part of the trip, we held a panel on Tribal Policy Forum on Friday. On Saturday morning we hosted a Roundtable Discussion titled America’s Vulnerable Supply Chain of Natural Resources. We also received Committee updates from Western Caucus members.

Congressional Western Caucus Chairman Dan Newhouse (WA-04) issued a statement over the weekend regarding reports that a supplemental spending agreement would exclude economic aid for farmers and fail to address California’s Proposition 12.

Senate Western Caucus Chair Cynthia Lummis (WY) and Senator Markwayne Mullin (OK) announced that their bipartisan bill to officially designate the bald eagle as the National Bird of the United States has been approved by both the House and Senate and is now awaiting the President’s signature to become law.

Congressional Western Caucus Chairman Dan Newhouse (WA-04) and Senate Western Caucus Chair Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) called on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) political appointees planning to join environmental NGOs to recuse themselves from ongoing official matters.
This follows the announcement that BLM Director Tracy Stone-Manning will head the Wilderness Society after her tenure. 23 of their peers also signed the letter.
